I received the following email message today from Jackie Benson of Sault Ste.
Marie, Michigan, concerning her Carlin ancestors in Ireland and Canada. The
first Carlin in their Carlin family line seems to be Terrance Carolan, who was
married to a Miss Shanon in Ireland, and who emigrated to Canada in 1857.
None of her ancestors seem to match any of the Carolans on my database, or any
of the Carlins I know of in Canada. Can anyone help her? Thanks.
Fred

Dear Fred,
I am trying to research my Carlin roots and cannot seem to match my
relatives with
the names on the list of descendants. Maybe you would know something.
What I
know is this: My mother's name is Beatrice Carlin LaRock. Her father
was Thomas
Carlin who was born in Pine Hill, Quebec, Canada on Nov. 13, 1884, died
May
16, 1974. His father was also named Thomas and he was born in 1849, died
1912. He was born in Ireland and was married to Mary Stone. Thomas's
father's name
was Terrance Carolan, who emmigrated to Canada (I think) or that area in
the year
1857 from Ireland with his wife, whose maiden name was Shannon. They
settled in
Grenville, Quebec, Canada. My Grandfather, the second Thomas had a
brother
named Edmund and a sister named Alice. There were other siblings, too.
Does
this ring any bell? I would like to determine what part of Ireland they
came from and
any other information about them. Please email me if you have any
answers. Thank
you so much!
Sincerely,
Jackie Benson
