Hugh Webb Carlin was the third child of
Patsey Ann Webb and James Carlin, and a
grandson of Daniel Carlin (ca. 1750 - ca. 1820)
and Daniel's first wife, Elizabeth Duffy/Rogan.
Daniel Carlin, Hugh Webb's grandfather, had been a captain
in the Henry County (Virginia) Militia during the Revolutionary
War, and later served as a highly-respected judge in Virginia.
Daniel and his brother, Thomas, were great-grandsons of
Huguenot Carlin of France, about whom brand new information
has been provided to The Carlin Archives by Christopher M.
Carlin of England.
Carol Wauford Williams of Lebanon, Wilson Co., TN, a descendant
of Capt. Daniel Carlin, has provided us with new data about the
descendants of Martha Carlen and Daniel Pemberton, covering
Pembertons, Carrs and Waufords. These data are on the Hugh
Webb Carlin webpage.
