------------------------------
We're particularly interested in any newspaper article or obituary about
the late Emma Fairbrothers Carlin of Palmyra, Wisconsin. Mrs. Carlin
gave the State of Wisconsin the land that is now the Emma F. Carlin
Environmental Trails at the Kettle Moraine State Forest, Wisconsin.
She was born December 25, 1871, the daughter of Samuel and Helen Roy
Fairbrothers. She married Arthur Carlin on August 7, 1915, in
Whitewater, Wisconsin. No further information is as yet known regarding
Arthur Carlin's ancestors, or regarding either Emma or Arthur's DOD.
We know that she taught taught for many years in the Stone, Golden Lake,
Lake Mills and Palmyra, Wisconsin schools, but we have been unable to
obtain any documentation about this; the records have, unfortunately,
long since disappeared.
She was a charter member and the second president of the Palmyra Women's
Club, and chaired the local Red Cross chapter for more than 40 years.
Again, contacts with the Women's Club and the local Red Cross people
have not resulted in any tangible information beyond that which we
already know.
The limited information we have about her, and about the Emma Carlin
Environmental Trails, is published at
http://www.attorney.carlin.net/geo/emma.htm . If you are aware of any
further information about her, we'd welcome it for the website!
