Leslie Jensen, a descendant of John Carlin, Sr. and Jane (Hobson)
Carlin, has sent me some detailed and very well-written information
about Emma Fairbrothers Carlin of Palmyra, Wisconsin; about Emma's
husband, Arthur Carlin, and about their ancestors.
Emma, as you know, donated the land that's now the Emma F. Carlin
Environmental Trails in Wisconsin's
Kettle Moraine State Forest. See:
http://www.attorney.carlin.net/geo/us-emma.htm for more inf. about the
Emma Carlin Trails.
Leslie Jensen has also given me leads to a lot of other information
related to Carlins in early Wisconsin. These data will eventually be
published on the web at
http://www.attorney.carlin.net/states/wisconsin.htm . This Wisconsin
update will be completed before mid-November.
I've been researching related matters, and I've found a good source for
information about Palmyra, Wisconsin's Carlin House, which is listed in
the National Register of Historic Places. Leslie's told me about the
background of the house and its connection to the Carlins of Palmyra.
That information will appear on the forthcoming John Carlin Sr. / Jane
Hobson Family webpage, which is now in early draft form.
Right now, however, you might enjoy looking at
http://www.visitpalmyra.com/Museum.htm . This is a Palmyra, Wisconsin
webpage that is entirely devoted to the Carlin House / Turner Museum,
and includes a photo of the Carlin House as well as an explanation as to
why it's on the National Register. Even if you're not part of the John
Carlin Sr. / Jane Hobson family line, you'll still find this webpage
quite interesting.
Leslie will be glad to correspond with you about her research. Her email
address is jensen6(a)pacbell.net .
