Carlinburg, Kentucky.
Yes, there definitely is a Carlinburg, Kentucky.
Carlinburg is a small hamlet in Kentucky's Henderson County, located in
Kentucky's western coal-mining regions. But all I know about it is its latitude
and longitude, 375300N and 0871924W. You can see Carlinburg listed on the U. S.
Census Bureau's Tiger mapping service.
Other than that, I know nothing about this small population center. Most
important, I do know (1) that it is not a U.S. Postal Service address, and (2) I
don't know the Carlin after whom it's named.
There's also a Carlinburg Road leading to and from the town.
This information has been listed on The Carlin Archives Online, on our "Cities
and Sites" page,
http://attorney.carlin.net/carlin-cities.htm#kentucky.
When I find out more, I'll let you know. Personally, I find it very interesting
to find all these previously-unknown Carlin sites.
