Virginia Simms Toney, of Houston, TX, has discovered the names of three
Carlins/Carolans from Texas who served during the Mexican War, 1846-48:
John Carolan, a private with Wm. G. Crump's Co.
John M. Carolan, a private with Benjamin F. Hill's Co.
John Carolin, a second sergeant with the Texas Mounted Rangers (First
Service), Richard A. Gillespie's Co.
So please forget Walker, Texas Ranger. He's an amateur. We've got Sgt. John
Carolin!
These three names are a great discovery. They're now listed on the "Carlins in
the Mexican War" webpage,

and on the "Carlins in Early Texas" webpage,
