AXEL CARLANDSSON, age 23, was among the passengers from Liverpool to Boston who
arrived in Boston on board the SS Ivernia on Oct. 18, 1905.
Mr. Carlandson was listed on the ship's manifest as a laborer of Swedish
nationality. His last residence was Hoganas, Sweden, and his final destination
in the US was stated to be Worcester, MA.
1. I'm listing Alex Carlandsson on the "Lost Carlins" page at
http://attorney.carlin.net/lostcarlins.htm. I know nothing more about him other
than the information in this note.
2. Although Carlan and Carland are both standard variants of the Carlin name,
this is the first time I've come across this Swedish variation, Carlandsson
(meaning son of Carland).
3. This relates to Swedish Carlins in general, not to Axel Carlandsson (above).
Mr. Colin Carlin, the noted Carlin genealogist in Bath, England, recently told
me that he has information about Swedish and Finnish Carlins. He wrote, in
part,
>BTW Anyone out there interested in Finnish/Swedish Carlins
settled in Seattle
from about 1910. I have a bunch of cemetery records which would
be of interest
to anyone starting a search of this group. Names start with:
Pacific Lutheran Cemetery
JOHN ALFRED CARLIN born1869 died 1961
EVA MATHILDA CARLIN born 1864 died 1955.
HALLEK A. CARLIN Born 1886 died 1947.
Mrs HANNAH CHARLOTTE CARLIN born Ljungby, Sweden 1883 came to USA 1895
died 1941.
and others.
