Frankie (Carlin) Meyer has been able to uncover the differences between the
Missouri State Guard and the Stone Pairie Home Guard, and it will be the
subject of one of her future genealogical columns in The Joplin Globe.
As a result of her information, and data from the Civil War muster rolls,
we've been able to add the names Amos Carlin and Asa Carlin to our Civil War
lists (we now have 67 on the Union side, 75 on the Confederate side) at
http://www.attorney.carlin.net/carlin-w-civil . Amos Carlin and Asa Carlin,
who both lived near Monnett, in Barry County, MO, were very strong Union
supporters, and were privates in Missouri's Stone Prairie Home Guard.
We've also been able to expand the information about Amos and Asa Carlin on
the John Champ Carlin Family webpage,
http://www.attorney.carlin.net/johnchampcarlin.htm . John Champ Carlin, an
ensign (first-level officer) in the 7th Virginia Regiment, was the first
Carlin from among all Carlin family lines to enroll in the cause of American
independence; he joined the 7th Virginia in March 1776.
The "Carlins in Early Missouri" webpage has also been updated. That URL is
http://www.attorney.carlin.net/CA-missouri.htm. The page covers Carlins,
from all Carlin family lines, who were part of the early history of Missouri
(which we're arbitrarily defining as through the end of the Civil War).
If you have any additional data about Carlins in the Civil War, or
additional data about Carlins in your own family line, please let us know.
Thanks.
