I have a James A. (Alexander?) Carlile in my records who is listed as born about 1824 in
Carroll or Tuscarawas County, Ohio to James Carlile and Mariah (Mary?) Whitcraft Carlile.
This 1824 date may have been a transcription error on my part as I don't have any note
as to where I got the information, because on the 1850 Scott County Indiana Federal Census
he is listed as 7, the youngest child in his family; so born about 1842 or 1843.
There is also a James Carlile married to a Susan McKnight on 14 Nov 1844 in Washington
County, Indiana, according to the Indiana Marriage Records Index @ Volume E, Page 21.
Is it possible that James Carlile (father of James A. Carlile), who lost his wife Mariah
in 1843, married Susan McKnight, and that she too passed away before the 1850 Census, as
James Carlile (1794-1852) is not listed with a wife in 1850.
Thanks for your help.
