HI
With the name Coleman appearing in a Carlile line there probably is a
connection. Unfortunately, I don't have any of your names in my data
base. Do you have the names of Sarah Roberson Ward's parents? Perhaps
she's the one that is connected to the Coleman's.
Did your line have anything to do with the Methodist Church? Quite a
few of my line were Methodist circuit riders. If so, you can ask Duke
University for any early records they might have. Duke serves as a
repository for the early Methodist records. If memory serves me right,
there's a $25 fee per name which is returned if they don't find
anything.
Has the name Glenn showed up in your line? That's another early
Methodist circuit rider family which married into my Coleman and Carlile
lines.
I'm in the middle of moving files from this computer to a new one or I
would send you my early Carlile outline. I can't stand it -- I'll type
in the first couple of generations the hard way.

Have been interested in this NC Carlisle family for a while because my gg-grfather's
brother named a son Coleman. It may be a coincidence. But we've hit a brick wall
with
our line, so it's as good a clue as any in trying to connect farther back.
I'm looking for a Martin CARLYLE/CARLISLE b ca 1780-1799.
m. Sarah OWENS.
place of births & marriage unknown.
They were parents of Abraham CARLYLE, b. ca1823 TN;
m. Paulina HAMILTON 1844 Hopkins Co. KY
d. 1885 Franklin Co. IL.
Abraham & 2nd wife Sarah J. ROBERSON WARD named a son
John Coleman CARLYLE, b 1870.
I believe Abraham was a brother of Wm. CARLISLE b1817 TN, and
Samuel CARLILE b 1820 TN. Both mar. in Hopkins, KY and
d. Hamilton Co. IL
These Carlisles also lived for a while in Posey Co IN & Greene Co MO.
Haven't been able to connect them to other Carlisles of TN KY NC.
