"The History of Lowndesville, South Carolina by H.A. Caelisle on page 182
mentions:
There was a Francis Carlile who was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church in
County Monahan in 1720. Is it possible that he was the father of James Carlile
the immigrant? Dates would permit it."
There are about 100 Carlile, Carlisles in the book. H. A. Carlisle, the
historian has amassed thousands of references to the various Carliles and
different spellings. He died in 02 at 96 years of age. He was putting together the
family history which is now in the custody of his nephew.
The other South Carolina Carliles from around the Newberry and Union County
area didn't seem to be connected to those who came to Savannah to Abbeville
County, SC from County Monaghan in 1700. The name spellings change within
families.
I have done extensive research on another Carlile family in Brevard County,
Florida. Alexander Carlile 1770 and son David Nathaniel 1820 who migrated
with sons James and Robert about 1840 from SC to Mississippi and then to Brevard
County Florida.
I need more specific Carlile names and collateral names to compare these
families.
