I recently found the 4 children of Thomas Carlile and also found that Thomas
first married Matilda Wilkinson, the daugther of John and Clarissa
Wilkinson, in Oct of 1857 in Madison Co., IA. Martha Carlile, a sister of
Thomas married David Wilkinson, also in Madison Co., IA.
Although able to locate this first marriage, I still cannot find Thomas,
Matilda and their daughter Clarissa Carlile, born about 1858, in the 1860
Census. Since there were 3 more children also born in IA, I have been trying
to locate them in IA and around the Madison Co., area, but have also other
counties as well.
Clarissa Carlile married David Riley Harrison in Madison Co., IA and had
several children who moved to Spokane Co., WA with her, as they are listed
in the 1900, 1910 census records. Clarissa's brother Alexander G. Carlile
also moved to Spokane Co., WA but apparently never married. At least I have
not seen any record of him marrying, and he is listed as single in all the
census records.
I found Clarissa and Alexander's two brothers, John and James Carlile in
Cowley Co., KS from 1900-1920. John H. Carlile never married but James W.
Carlile married Mary Enright, and had several children: Donna, John W.,
James & Mary Ellen.
I found Samuel B. Huston, the son of Lucretia Naugle Huston Carlile in 1900
and even contacted his grandson in Oregon. Samuel B. Huston, and Lucretia's
two children by Thomas Carlile, Richard and Albert Carlile apparently moved
to Washington and then Oregon and were living in Washington Co., OR
(Hillsboro)and then Portland and vicinity from about 1900 on. So all of
these people are alive in 1880, but I still cannot find any of them in 1880
Census Records.
