A Simon Carlisle was a Methodist minister in Smith Co TN. I had wondered if he's
connected to the Edgecomb Carlisles.
Simon & Wm Carlisle owned land in Jackson Co TN, very near the Smith Co. line.
This Wm was a Rev. soldier; applied 3-21-1833 Jackson Co
from Geneal. Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files Vol I by V. White:
b. Guilford Co NC, moved tp VA to Green Co KY to Fayette KY to
Nelson KY to Madison KY back to Green KY then in 1801 to Jackson TN.
I believe a Wm who's buried Bedford Co TN is also a Rev. Vet.
2. William Carlisle, JR. b: 1736 (I'd like to find out more about this
William--my husband's line has a William Carlisle that fought in the Rev
War--maybe they are one and the same William.)
Coleman Carlisle was an early Methodist minister who was a circuit
rider. He married the daughter of another Methodist minister (Glenn).
There were several others who were Methodist ministers also.
