Hi Carlile Cousins,
After studying Conway & Washington Co AR deeds and AR census records, I'm
going out on a limb and voicing my speculations.
William Niller Carlile, Sr and wife Elizabeth ______ had nine children:
1. William Niller, Jr 1802-1875 married Elizabeth Hacker
2. Thomas Jefferson 1805-? married Mary _____
3. Mary Ann 1806- married Mark Williams
4. Elizabeth 1810- married Silas McCoy
5. John Stephen 1811-1902 married Martha Burrows
6. Patsey married Lewis Jones
7. Robert married Eliza?? 1829 & 1830 census
8. Stephen 1818 married Mary L Moore
9. Mahela 1818 married Jesse Lynch
William Sr died 1827 Conway Co; wife Elizabeth may have died 1829-1830. She
was the admx for her husband's estate, but doesn't appear in the 1830 census.
William Jr & John move to Washington Co before 1830, Thomas follows
1833-1835. Up until then, he has been the agent for buying siblings
interest in father's estate. Robert has gone missing. Silas McCoy becomes
admn of William Sr's estate until he too moves to Randolph Co. about 1840.
Mahela appears to move with him, as she marries Jesse Lynch in 1845 in
Lawrence county and shows up in Randolph Co census until her death
1861-1869, probably from childbirth. Elizabeth Carlile McCoy dies
1870-1880. Stephen is last heard of in 1850 when he marries in Pulaski Co,
but doesn't show up on the census. Where or where did Patsey & Lewis Jones
disappear to?
This is an educated family as all except mother Elizabeth and son John can
sign their names.
The census shows that Elizabeth Carlile McCoy was born about 1810 in KY, AR
or TN. Look at the map and you will see that these places might be clues as
to where William and family were in 1810, on their way to Arkansas, but not
yet arrived? Might be worth doing some checking.
Thomas Jefferson Carlile 1805-? Died sometime in Webbers Falls, Muskogee,
OK after spending some years in California. Probate in Washington Co AR
1881 NOT his.
I'm looking forward to some feedback.
