I am trying to find the names of the parents of 4 Carlisle children who were
declared orphans in 1817.(Apprentice's Indentures filed in Chatham County) :
William Henry Harrison Carlisle, b May 10,1804 in NC, apprenticed to Joshua
Johnson in Chatham Co on Feb. 14, 1814. Moved to Morgan Co, Indiana abt 1870
Fannie Anne Carlisle, b Jan. 25, 1808 and Terrill Carlisle, b Aug. 26, 1810,
both born in NC, apprenticed to A Quaker named William Lindley. Terrill
moved to Morgan Co, Indiana shortly after 1870 where he died Aug. 20, 1885
No further information on Fannie Anne has been found.
A 4th child, David Carlisle, is shown with the other 3 on a Guardian's Bond
issued to John Newlin by the Chatham County Court on Feb 13, 1822 who was to
"tutor and supervise the estate of the four orphan children." This is the
only time David's name has appeared in any records.
The Obituary of William Henry Harrison Carlisle states that his father was in
the War of 1812. The father may have been killed in the war and the mother
died shortly after or the mother may not have been able to care for the
children.
Terrill Carlisle is my direct line and I have a substantial amount of
information on his descendants that I will be glad to share. You can check
these out on the CARLISE PAGE on my website
