I have looked at the two rolls of microfilm that contain the Arkansas
Income Tax Records for 1866. Individuals were taxed on income over
$600, occupations were Taxed, such as Doctors, lawyers, horse dealer,
hotel keeper..., and products on hand such as cotton and apple brandy.
I only found two Carlile listings and they were in Washington County:
Carlisle & Walker: Fayetteville Dist. - 1 1/4 gal. Apple Brandy Tax: $2.00
Carlisle, J D: Fayetteville Dist. - 37 lb or bales of Cotton @3 cents Tax
$1.11. Entry crossed out and comment made: a-ated as erroneous.
