Let me add my plea for help. My grandfather, Leonard Carlile was born in
Alabama to parents also from Alabama. My grandmother was Emma Barton Carlile
who was born in Illinois of parents born in Illinois. Both my grandparents
died in October of 1900 in LeRoy TX of Typhoid. I have located them in the
1900 census living in Navaro County TX. They had a 10-year old younger
sister. Eddie Carlile living with them. My father, his two younger brothers
and an older sister 5-years old at the time were enrolled at the Methodist
Orphans Home in Waco in 1901 and we have no other family information. My
grandfather was born in 1870 in Alabama, my grandmother in 1871 in Illinois;
no knowledge of their parents names or their places of birth. My grandfather
was not in the 1880 Alabama census and cannot identify my grandmother in the
1880 Illinois census. Don't know when they came to Texas.
Can anyone add any information?
Jim Carlyle (new spelling assigned at the Methodist Home and we've used it
for nearly 100 years; only discovered the difference when we found out where
our grandparents were buried. Too late to change now.)
