I found a W. H. Parsley listed in 1860 Solano County California, Vacaville Twp. age 30
married to P.A. Parsley age 23. They are both listed as born in Kentucky. According to my
family sources they should have been born in Illinois and Missouri respectively (see
below). A daughter, M. M. Parsley is listed as one year old born in California.
This family does not show up in the 1850 or 1870 Federal Census for Solano County
California.
I believe M.M. is Mary Magdelene (or Monroe?) Parsley who married George Gerome Carlile
about 1880. Other sources told me that George and Mary married in 1874 in Topeka, Kansas,
when Mary would have been about 15, but I can't confirm that marriage, and no children
are listed when Mary and George show up in the 1880 Page County, Iowa Federal Census.
That census lists Mary at about the correct age, born in California, but lists her parents
as both born in Missouri.
Mary is then listed with George and family as 34 years old on the 1895 Center Twp.,
Russell Co., Kansas, State Census as born in Missouri, and then on the 1900 Edwards Co.,
Kansas Federal Census, Lincoln Twp. as 40, born Sep 1859 in California, w/father born in
Illinois and mother born in Missouri.
Is there anyone on this list that could advise me on how to figure this mess out on Mary
Parsley and George Carlile? Thanks for any help.
