If Bartholomew and Hannah Carley were the parents of Abraham, b 1711, who m. Susannah
Brookin(g)s they would have been 50 years old at the time - I doubt that Hannah would have
been of childbearing age by then. I have heard from others that Abraham was the son of
Bartholomew's son William. Have you perhaps skipped a generation? There is also a
grandson John, b @ 1709, m. Sarah Sherwood in CT who no one has paid much attention to and
both Abraham and Susannah and Joseph and Sally Washburn lived near them in Fairfield CT in
the 1740s for about 10 years. I believe that John had children named for both of these
other Carleys (and their son Abraham also married a Susannah and she remarried in 1759 to
a Thaddeas Gray in Fairfield) as well as Albert and Johnathan - note the extra h in
Johnathan, as well as others. John's family moved from CT to the Oblong in Dutchess
Co. - now Putnam Co. - in 1760. Most of the sons served in the Rev War Dutchess Co.
Volunteer Militia. The el!
der Abraham of this message served with the Green Mountain Boys.
