Message Board Post:
Judy, this church information caught my attention. Dutch or German Reformed church
isn't the religion the bunch of my Carley families are back as far as 1717 Joseph of
Whitingham, son of Peter.
I've wondered before at the Dutch/German names of Abraham, but Peter and Joseph's
can be also. the name "Abraham" isn't passed down in any of my family, to
date. I just looked at the five Abram/Abraham's I have in my database and it makes me
think now that Joseph of Schenectady probably is a son of Albert Alonzo Carley, the ages
fit Joseph of S to be a child of Albert's, now that I look at it and think on the name
extractions. He and wife Engeltie Quackenbos Carly's children are all Dutch-named and
they're both from Kayadorossa, a Dutch/German area. This particular Joseph, b aft 23
Apr 1762, has no identified parents. Maybe the records for the German/Dutch families are
German Reformed churches in the areas they're in. With two separate lines of
religion, it's a lead, but maybe you've exhausted that idea already. They
generally keep good records from long back.
That's my idea for the day.
