This Bartholomew was a grandson of William and Mary Bowden Carley's -- he was a son of
their son Joseph, b @ 1705 at Boston, and ? Jillett,Gillett/etc. Carley and one of 3 of
their sons who defected to Canada when the Rev. War broke out. Other sons Elijah and
Abraham were the other defectors. This is the correspondence I have on them from folks in
Canada - I have removed their email address but would be happy to send off the Board -

Hi Sharon: meant for Judy
Just a quick reply. We have extensive information on Batholomew and Elijah, not so much
on Abraham. Batholomew was in Brockville and we have traced his whole family and are just
trying to link his family to the last known male of his lineage who was a catholic priest
who died in the lat 1980's. Our "Elusive Elijah" have also got extensive
info on him. Have pretty positive link to the 1891 census and he's in Ogdensburg and
then on to Picton and we have clearly defined ALL the families from that point on. We
only have two generations of info on Abraham, who settled north of Brockville and we
didn't have any luck getting any more on him at our last visit to our main library
genealogy center two weeks ago. We have traced the family of the Joseph Carley in
Schnectady and need to tie him to Elijah, Bartholomew and Abraham and it looks like their
father may have been just north of Schnectady and then the Gillet family and Bartholomew
went to Ft. Edward. We have the Gillett/!
Sherwood court case and think we know where the farm was located, but need to go back to
Ft. Edward to verify. I'll take your info and see what connections I can make from
Nobletown to Ft. Edward and Schnectady!.
