Subject: [CARLEY] RE: Adrian, son of Jonathan and Jenny(Jane) Gray Carley
have been sent a copy of a petition dated late in 1847 made to the Court of
Steuben Co. regarding a change of executor for the Will of Adrian Carley, who
died in Caton, September 3, 1847. The petition is offered by a Jonathan
Murwin, husband of Adrian and Abigail Carley's daughter, Harriet, on the
grounds
that the widow Abigail is insane, and that their son Darius Carley is unable
to
act as he is currently living in Illinois.
By dating the ages of those involved, it appears that Adrian would have been
the eldest son of Jonathan and Jenny Gray Carley of Sidney, Delaware, NY and
would have been born @ 1780.
Darius lived in Galesburg, Knox, IL and enlisted in Company F, 47th Infantry
Regiment Illinois on 01 October 1861.
Received a disability discharge Company F, 47th Infantry Regiment Illinois on
17 December 1861
James Van Rensaleer Carley, son of Brookins Carley and husband of Miranda
Phelps, also died in Galesburg after 1886.
