I am a descendant of the man we call William, the Mariner, b.@ 1683 to Capt. Henry and
second wife, Elizabeth Ward Howe Kerley. William was m. in 1703 at Boston by Cotton
Mather, a Mary Bowden, b 1684 at Saco, Black Point, ME. My husband and I are both
descendants of their son John, who was an older brother of the William, Jr., who married
Martha Patty Carter. Below is the document filed at Boston in 1739 at the death, probably
at sea, of the Senior William the Mariner. We have never found the follow-up document
required this document but think that Mary died at Marlborough, MA sometime after the
death of the Mariner.
