I have identified 5 William Kerly/Kerley/Carleys who were born or lived in MA in the
1600s.
1, Senior William, b. @ 1598 d 1670, m. Ann White, daughter of Robert and Joane ? White,
was the Kerly who came to MA in 1638 aboard the Confidence. His family followed the next
year. They settled Sudbury and Marlborough. Last Will mentions sons Henry, William and
John Deval (who married Hannah White, the niece of Ann White and sister of Elizabeth, wife
of Capt. Henry Kerley);
2, William, d. 1684, Capt.Henry, b. 1632, son of William Kerly, was Executor and was named
as his brother in his Last Will and Testament. Also mentioned in the Will was wife Anna,
daughter of Thomas King, they were married Oct 6, 1646 in Sudbury, so he could not have
been the William, b. 1633;
3, William,b. 1658? d . 1676, son of Capt. Henry and Elizabeth White Kerley, killed in
Massacre with mother and brother Henry, Jr., and others - also John Deval, husband of
Elizabeth's sister Hannah, both women were niece's of William Sr.s wife, Ann White
Kerly;
4. William, d. 1719, buried at Lexington with wife Jane, (thought to be King), ae 86,
making his dob 1633 which corresponds to the known dobs of William, Sr.'s sons Henry -
1632, and William - 1633 - This William known to be in Sudbury, Marlborough and
Cambridge/Lexington with Jane who he married in 1665/6 in Sudbury;
5. William, b. @1680, married Mary Bowden, died intestate in Boston or at sea in 1739 - no
known parents except known to be from Marlborough. Mary, b. 1684, was the daughter of
John and Grace Bully Bowden/Boaden, John was the son of Capt. Ambrose Boaden, a founder of
Saco, York, ME and father of Nicholas Bowden/Bouten b. Jan. 19, 1673. Boadens were
probably Hugenots.
