Does anyone know the correct parents for these two Edmunds?
We have two distinct lines down from Lt John Carlton
which lead to Edmunds in Landaff/Bath/Littleton area
of NH; one is clear, the other contains the dilemma:
LINE A
Lt John Carlton (1630-1668)
Edward Sr (1664-1711?)
Aaron {husb of Prudence Gage} (1697-1763?)
Aaron (1737-1827)
Edmund Sr (1772-1838 Hav.NH)
Edmund Jr (1797-1882 Litt.NH)
Edmund 3d (1839- )
LINE B
Lt John Carlton (1630-1668)
Edward Sr (1664-1711?)
Edward the Cornet (1690/1-1749 Hav.Ma)
Peter of Hav.Ma (1720- )
Edmund Sr {husb of Abigail Hutchins} (1758-1792
Landaff.NH)
1)Edmund the dilemma
2)Edmund b. July 29, 1783; son of Abigail Hutchins;
taxed 1st district, Landaff thru 1823; m. Martha
Jackman;
had 7 children betw 1811 and 1827 per retired Landaff
Town Clerk.
3)Edmund m. Martha Jackman
4)Edmund pub'd for m. w/Olive Barron Feb 01 1809
[BathVR]
5)Edmund had 5 children betw 1809 and 1817 (2nd named
Olive, 5th Mary Barron) [BathVR]
6)Edmund died Troy Ohio Dec 19 1872 ["Descendants of
John Hutchins" AND "The Carleton Family of England and
America to Michigan" (both w/o references - one is
probably quoting from the other AS THEY BOTH GIVE
Olive's Date of MARRIAGE as 1 Feb 1809 - THIS WAS THE
DATE OF BANNS! per Bath, NH Vital Records)]
===========
Edmund 2 MAY have been incorrectly composited by the
Landaff Town Clerk.
Edmund 3&4 are clearly different persons as they were
having different children during the same time periods
Edmund 4&5 are clearly the same person
The Landaff Town Clerk says Edmund2/3 is the son of
Abigail Hutchins
"Descendants of John Hutchins" AND "The Carleton
Family of England and America to Michigan" says
Edmund4/5/6 is the son of Abigail Hutchins
Does anyone know who are the parents of these two
Edmunds? Which died in Troy? What are the proofs for
which Edmund is which? Any gs/dc/probate info on
Olive&Edmund and/or Martha&Edmund? Hopefully we can
connect these ladies with their husband's DOD&age
and/or DOB and thus match the husbands with Mass/NH
birth records; and determine whether the published
genealogy or the Landaff Town Clerk erred in their
compilation.
