Ron, I love your family website and your grandma's story. My great grandma grew up in
southern Michigan in 1880's and 90's, and she wrote a little life story where she
says her school burned down too, so they might have known each other. She married into the
Carleton family to Harry Flannery CARLETON. They spell it with E now but on the 1880
Clinton,Iowa census my gr gr grandpa William Henry Carlton has no E. I am searching for
his parents names. The census says they were both born in NY, and my Wm Henry also was
born in Clinton(Kirkland)Oneida County NY 1839, and married Sophie Fink Cordes Sept 26
1875 in Chicago. This record that you have of a Wm Carlton b. 1813 with a wife Eunice Ann
, plus Jennifer's comments at this board, make me very curious if you think they could
be my missing parents. I have photos of my Wm Henry and his sister Ann (another matching
name there), and I have an even older photo of another unidentified man with a strong
resemblance who may be their f!
ather. Do you have old family photos? I know I have seen someone's online which had a
very strong resemblance. If someone could just help me identify the father, I could know
what branch we belong to. We also have Loomis and Elton and Day relatives from Michigan
1800's. I hope you had a wonderful time visiting Michigan. I am far away, south of
Seattle area and hope to get there sometime myself.
