Dear Robert
I may add to your "food for thought" with this... My great aunt
ELIZABETH KELLY married a WILLIAM CARLETON in New Ross. Sadly that
family was set upon by seeming endless sorrow as of the 20
pregnancies only 14 came to full term and of the 14, 5 died in the
first year and a 6th at age 7. ELIZABETH died of stomach cancer
causing the remaining children under the age of 16 to be placed in
care. The family was divided and the ones I am now in contact with
are at a loss as to explain who WILLIAM was and where he came from.
He did serve in the Royal Irish during the 1st world war. He may not
have been Catholic at birth and still yet he may not have been born
legitimately. In your digging in New Ross have you come across
anything? Kelly
