Goodwin Henry Carleton Born **** Perth, Australia
Died ** 1926 (?) Larne.
His father was a sea captain and in those days, wives were permitted to travel on voyages
with their husband. She was expecting at that time and stayed in Perth for the birth. On
the father's return voyage to Ireland (?) the ship went down with no survivors. Thus
ended that branch of the family (?) Can not see a mother leaving an other child in Ireland
with such a long voyage ahead of them.
Date of returning to Londonderry, unknown but a bible presented to my grandfather says:
“To Mr. Goodwin Carteton with best wishes From the Conductor and Members of Strand Road
Choir, Londerry, Feb. 23rd, 1894.'' and I have a diploma that states.
Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland certifies that Mr. Goodwin Henry Carleton is hereby
qualified to act as Pharmaceutical Chemist 6th May 1895. No. 502
