Dear Friends on Carleton List,
I live in Washington state. I labor and write. I'm 55 and single.
My Mother has been researching, mostly her side of the family,
for 20 years.
So here's the line I'm researching.followed by my question.
On my father's side,
my great grandfather's middle name was Carlton,
and his grandmother's maiden name was Harriot Poor Carleton
of New Hampshire. Our best information says her father was
Theodore Carleton, born 1734. In _The History of Exeter (NH),
Theodore Carleton is mentioned a few times, and
Harriot Poor Carleton is listed in the index.
Do You have more complete information? It's possible
someone in our New England family tree knows this for sure, but we don't.
The branch from Theodore Carleton seems to include, among others,
Ellen Strickland -- who married John Carleton of Beeford, England.
Whether the baby born in 1734 is our direct ancestor, or another
relative, is one of the uncertainties in our Carleton tree.
Anyway, warm greetings to all of You.
Sincerely
Mike Pearson
