My Carleton is my great grandmother. If you are interested, look at the
Genealogy section of our website and look at my pedigree and you will find
her there plus her ancestors. I am also interested in her first two
children whom she had before she married my great grandfather William PAYNE.
Sometimes they are PAYNE, sometimes CARL(E)TON. William Alan or William
Allon went into the army(?) and I suspect Mary Ann married and, therefore,
changed her surname. Any information would be appreciated

Jane Carleton (79). Jane (79) was born on 25 Nov 1847 Gill House at
Ormside, Westmorland, England. (registered East Ward Registration District
in the Sub-district of Appleby on 18 December 1847). She was also known as
Jane Carlton (79). She was baptized in 1848 at Ormside, Westmorland,
England. At 30 Mar 1851, Jane Carleton (79) was living with Christopher
Carlton (9812) and Jane Carlton (10455) and Isabella Carlton (10546),
William Carlton (10545), Mary Carleton (10988), and John Carlton (10547) at
Ormside, Westmorland, England, in Gill House. She was a domestic servant
before 5 Dec 1874. She married William Payne (78), son of James Payne (120)
and Harriet Beeby (8803), on 5 Dec 1874 Register Office at Appleton,
Westmorland, England. She lived 1 Bank Lane, at Crosscanonby, Cumberland,
England, on 3 Apr 1881. She and William Payne (78) and William Alan Carlton
(9815), Mary Ann Carlton (9816), Harriet Payne (81), James Payne (37), and
Sarah Jane Payne (84) lived 1 Bank Lane, at Crosscanonby, Cumberland,
England, on 3 Apr 1881. (In addition to the family there were 9 labourers
from Ireland who were working on the dock). She died on 6 Feb 1886 at Hury,
Hunderthwaite, Durham, England, at age 38. (Parturition Plegmatiodolens 5
days, Bronchitis 2 days, 12 hours). Her body was interred at Romaldkirk,
Yorkshire, England, on 9 Feb 1886.
