Dear Clarence Smith and other List Members:
Thank you for posting genealogical information on the internet and for
responding to my inquiry.

Thank you. Yes! We are talking about the same Ephraim CARLE (wife Ruth
Higgins) with son Joseph. My inquiry is about the descendants of this son
Joseph.

Are you able to cite a source record for the date of birth you show for
Joseph?
I have seen a variety of dates listed, one record showed a DOB as late as
1765. I understand that some of the DOBs listed for Joseph are estimates; no
one has been able to provide birth or baptismal records.
For your files, Joseph's Carle's wife Maria LOWE, was b. 27 February 1747/48.
Maria is dau. of and said first born to Derrick* (Dirck) LOWE and Rebecca
EMANS (aka Emmons) m. 01 June 1747. [Source: Somerset County Historical
Quarterly Vol VI, beginning on pg. 203, "The Readington Lowe (Low) Family;
also, Middaugh Family History and others.] If you would like me to pull my
file and provide additional sources about Maria's birth, I am happy to do so.
Lacking a dob for Joseph, I believe the marriage of Joseph and Maria could
have occurred as early as 1770, based on Maria's dob. In any event, their
marriage was before 1779. By the latter date, Joseph, then a carpenter, and
wife Maria were reported of Hillsborough Twp., Somerset Co. in a land
transaction.
I hope you or someone on the list has further information about the children
b. to Joseph and Maria (Lowe) CARLE who were m. bet. 1770 - 1779, including
information about son Dirick.
Thank you again for posting genealogical information on the internet.
My Best. ---BJ
