Joy: You appear to descend from the very well documented Maine Carle/Carll
family. The Scarborough you are looking for is in Maine right next to
Buxton. My father has a text containing the genealogies of the Carles
located in the Saco River Valley and when he returns home from his trip to
visit my sister and I this weekend I am sure he will tell you if your names
are listed. There is also a site for Maine genealogical research at which I
have run across many Carle/Carll references at
http://dotrac.com/ . The
Family History library has a great deal of information on this line as do
many Cd references ( some of which I believe are also in the possession of
my father). I hope some of this has been helpful and if I dig some more
stuff I will let you know.

Subject: [CARLE-L] My tracings
My ancestor farthest back in my tracings is Robert Carll. I don't
know
where he lived or what his vital dates were, much less anything else
about him. I come through his son Ebenezer b 1757, m1781 in Scarboro
(what state?) to Susannah Libby (b 1760 to Jonathan and Hannah
(Hunnewell) Libby in Scarboro. The next closer generation is Jonathan
Carle who married Martha somebody . . . Miller? Spaulding? . . . What
was her maiden name?
Jonathan died Feb 1875 in Buxton, ME. I have two closer generations
before the name Carle got lost by a female getting married.
Let me know if you connect, please.

Our oldest CARLE is Abraham. Born about 1775, married Elizabeth West.
His parents seem to be missing. Have you seen them? Karl L
