Collette,
I have chosen to respond to you in private, due to several factors, the most
important of which, is merely to allow you "a far more comfortable" forum for
expressing your concerns.

Hello all,
When we share info on our Carles, can we make an effort to include general
source info?
Although I am not familiar with your genealogy program, I can only say that my
program produces Register Reports which do not include this information.
(However, I do believe that your conern is "well-founded", and will always be
willing to forward such information to you, regardless of the extra
"formatting"
such reports may require.---Simply advise me, as to whenever such needs are
important.)
For general postings of lineages from gedcoms or books or whatever,
we could say "from Gedcom #XXXX, at
www.ancestry.com" or "from
the book Descendants of New Jersey Carles, by John Doe." Similarly,
if someone were to post, say, a list of marriage records from a CD,
he or she could cite the name and number of the CD.
Please tell me more!---I would love to see a copy of that book! Or, was that a
CD!!!!!! (Just kidding!)
For information from our own research, I realize it takes a great
deal of
time to type in all details of the sources, but if we can at least
say "death certificate" or "letter from her daughter" or even
"grandma told
me" it gives us some idea of where we can verify information. Interested
researchers can then exchange more detailed information off-list, if need be,
to verify or to resolve conflicts of information.
Believe it or not, thanks to Ohio State Records, I now possess well over 60
CARLE "Death Certificates"!!! In addition to this, I was fortunate enough to
have the opportunity to photograph a number of our CARLE ancestors' tombstones
in Belmont County. (As you may recall, I presviously volunteered to share
copies of these photographs.)
For example--earlier a list of descendents of Ephraim Carle of
Somerset
Co., NJ, was posted, which had many errors--e.g., a date of birth
for his son Joseph of 1767, which is clearly in error as Joseph was
of legal age, signing a deed on 23 April 1779--which his wife also
signed, so he was married by then as well. (src: deed from Joseph
Carle to Henry Veghte, 23 April 1779, Somerset Co., NJ)
In this case, I am certain that you were not making reference to my postings.
Due simply to the fact that I have Joseph CARLE's date of birth listed as 1781,
and "date of death" listed as July 14, 1868 (Actually, I have references to 6
different Epharim CARLES within my files, and am always very willing to share
this information.)
I've tried here to give sources for the information I am
submitting so
thatother researchers on those lines can see why I have made the conclusions I
have. It would be helpful if we could all do that whenever possible. We're
lucky to have a list like this to share info (thanks, Karl!) so lets make sure
that the data we share is as accurate as possible, which is best done by
including sources.
As always, I am willing to share all that I know. I am very fortunate to have
had an ancestor who spent years reseraching our CARLE family many years ago. I
know very little except that which I have learned from other cousins, and aunts
such as Lorena "Bea" Massie IRWIN (1887-1974).---She was the BEST!!!!
Best wishes!
John Kieffer
