Roy Alfred Carl
Shamokin- Roy Alfred Carl, 75, of 1333 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin, was
pronounced dead on arrival at Shamokin State General Hospital Wednesday
afternoon at 3:30. He had been in ill heath since being injured in a mine
explosion in January, 1963, at the Glen Burn Colliery.
Born in Valley View, Feb. 13, 1898, Mr. Carl was the of the late Charles
and Cora Klinger (Bixler) Carl. He resided in Shamokin 70 years.
Mr. Carl was a miner, having worked at Burnside and Bear Valley collieries
before working 40 years at Glen Burn.
He was married March 18,1922, in Shamokin to the former Elizabeth Jones.
Mr. Carl attended Shamokin schools. He was a member of Salem United Church
of Christ.
Survivors include the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Cora Sokoloski and Mrs.
Royland (Esther Larue) Omens, Shamokin; two sons, Roy A. Carl JR.,
Stockbridge, Ga.,: 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, two sisters,
Mrs. Harvey Osman, Sunbury, and Mrs. Clement (Alberta) Snyder, Shamokin,
and one brother Francis Carl, Shamokin.
Farrow Funeral Directors, Shamokin, are in charge of arrangements.
CARL- Roy Alfred Carl, 1333 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin. Funeral services
will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in Farrow Funeral Home, Sixth and
Chestnut Sts., Shamokin, with the Rev. Sterling P. Martz officiating.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Friends and
relatives may call at the funeral home. Friday evening from 7:00 to (:00
and Saturday until time of services.
