Just to correct some typo/presumptive text issues in my earlier post. Katheryns married
name was Spoor......she had two children a son and a daughter Ruth. My cousin Ruthie
married Arnold Demerest and had children and grand children. I still have not found any
information about cousins (I do know they were all boys as Ruth's always told me I was
her first girl cousin). She was very attached to my Dad and was 16 when I was born. That
would probably mean that any cousins we had on the west coast would be born between 1930
ish and the mid 40s as I don't remember any clone to me in age. Another correction
David E Carhart was named for Ernie Ridel....his mom lived on Montgomery St in Rhinebeck
very close to my grandparents who were at number 120. One distinctive characteristic of
120, besides being a beautiful house, was the state stone mile marker marking 100 miles to
New York City. It was in the shape of a stone house with peaked roof and we called it the
mouse house. !
My grandfather, Oscar, was a long time firefighter and I believe chief in Rhinebeck. The
other error was that my brother was born in Mt Gilead, Ohio. All 3 of Ward's children
are alive at this time as are his 6 grandchildren. David's only son, Justin, is about
to have his second son (along with twin daughters) so this branch of the Carhart line is
growing.......Paula Carhart Hilston
