Thanks for that - great to know others who have made the pilgramage, even if mine was half
accidental. I'd like to go back and search the area more thoroughly - I did feel a
strange connection. While looking for Carhart I also stumbled upon St Breock church
(having taken a wrong turning). It was a really sunny day and the tree-shaded churchyard
was almost unreal, it was so idyllic. I had a quick look but didn't find any Carhart
graves, but having traced my line and found births in St Breock (Harris side), it is very
likely I have ancestors buried there. I was told there are a lot of Carharts living in
nearby St Issey. Also, the guy in the local pub also told me that Carhart is recorded in
the Domesday book. However, I haven't been able to find any reference on the National
Archives online record. Perhaps a different spelling?
