Just because Daniel is not listed in the Thomas Carhart book does not mean he is not of
this family. I think Mary Dusenbury did a wonderful job on this publication, but she
explained in her forward that many people in the family to whom she sent letter in the
middle 1850s did not reply. That is one reason the New Jersey lines are much less
informative than the New York lines in the book. So, I was wondering if there was another
way to find out about the parentage of Daniel. I have also found that the name Carhart is
extremely singular. It is only found in Cornwall and Devonshire, England. In some of the
records it is spelled Kerhart, Carhartte, etc., but everywhere I have found this name in
the U. S. and was able to connect it, it connected to these families of early Cornwall and
Devon from 1300s. Robert's son Cornelius went to West N. J. and he had a grandson
named Daniel (of Hunterdon Co., N. J. and later was in Pa.). It is still possible that
your Daniel is related to thi!
s whole family. Wish you the best in your search.
