Hi Malcolm:
I think most of us have reached the same point in our research of Mary Lord
and Thomas Carhart with NO primary documentation for her parent's names.
I concur with you, from good authority, that her parents were not the Robt.
Lords, even though you will find some very old applications from several
patriotic societies stating that this is so, but this is before much proof
was demanded by applicants (or secondary documentation was used meaning
published books with no sources cited).
There is a document that states that her name is Mary Lord, but no mention of
her parents or ancestry.
I descend from Mary Lord Carhart's son, Robert Carhart, born ca 1693. I have
another problem, I have found NO primary sources that state the names of his
children, no will, etc.
