City of La Crosse
W. W. CARGILL, dealer in wheat; was born at Long Island, N. Y., Dec. 15, 1844. In 1856, he
removed with his parents to Janesville, Wis., where they were engaged in farming,
remaining there until 1863, when he went to Austin, and subsequently Albert Lea, Minn.,
where he was engaged in the wheat trade. In 1875, he removed to La Crosse, and continued
the same business. He deals throughout all parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Dakota
Territory. The name of the firm of which he is now a member is Cargill & Van.
