Message Board Post:
hello Mark.
my cousin Eleanor Cargill b.1931.in Arbroath and NOT in N.Y.as previously thought.
(confirmation from passenger list 1932. Belfast to N.Y.)
I can only find one birth in Arbroath 1931. (eleanor campbell cargill) this is not her.
her b.c. may give an address where Ellie(my aunt)&Charlie Cargill ) were living
before returning to Yonkers.N.Y. then hopefully find a lead as to what happened the family
when they left Yonkers. they don't appear on the 1940 Census.?
Eleanor appears on the 1951 Louisiana University register so presumably the family were
living in Baton Rouge??. but again with no address I have drawn a blank. Eleanor married
in 1956 but with no Spouse surname yet another b.w.
there was a younger sister Leonora but we never heard if she married.
I have been down nearly every avenue with quite a few sites, some conflicting records.!!
would be magic if you could unearth a bit more Mark. we might even be distant relatives
!!
my tree suggests that Eleanor may still be alive but WHERE.??and how do we go about
finding living relatives?
(I guess miracles take a bit longer)
let me know if I can give you any more info! Oh Charlie was a mechanic/steam fitter.
kind regards sarah aldworth(nee Burns) (niece of Ellie Cargill nee Burns)
