I have no connection to this family but found this while doing other research. This
appeared in the March 19, 1911 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Gazette in the
"Razorville" column:
"Two sets of farm buildings have been destroyed by fire in the south part of the town
the past few days. Tuesday James Cargill's house was destroyed with most of the
contents. They were all away except one of the neighbor's girls who was keeping
house. Mrs. Cargill was at South Liberty caring for her daughter, Mrs. Will Prescott, who
is sick with the grippe and the men folks were in the woods. The fire caught around the
chimney and was well under way before anyone saw it. The barn is only about 15 feet from
the house and by hard fighting this was saved. There was a small insurance."
