Most of the following I found a few weeks ago while in Michigan - a letter
from Florence Brown in Toledo, to Mrs. Clapp of Galesburg, MI, written in
1970, requesting help in finding burial places. I want to verify the
following info:
William Conklin CARY (CAREY-CARAY), b. 1806/1807 in Orange Co. NY, son of
Ananias & Mary Conklin CARY (etc.) Moved to Yates Co., NY between 1810 & 1820.
In 1836, William CARAY moved to , first, Comstock Twp., Kalamazoo Co.,
MI, then, secondly, Charleston Twp., K'zoo Co. Married 3 times.
1) Sarah Ann Davis
2) Alvina (Alvira) Farr (Tarr) Brown, widow with a son Charles
3) Lidia Warner of Calhoun Co., MI
My interest in this family is that the son of the widow BROWN (second wife)
married the daughter of William C. CARAY from his first wife. In other
words, Charles S. BROWN married his step-sister, Phebe J. CARAY. These 2 are
my husband's great-grandparents.
Any info on this CARAY (CAREY) family is welcome.
