For several years, I have been researching my husband's ancestry, but can get no
further than his great-grandfather, William Thomas Cary, an only child. He was a traveling
salesman and a professional figure skating and roller skating performer in the western
U.S. (c.1894-1908), for which we have numerous newspaper clippings and an original copy of
"Skaters History on Ice and Roller Skating," 1916. We also have photographs of
his father, name unknown, and his mother, Phoebe S. Jones.
Beginning with my husband's grandparents, each also an only child:
Clyde William Cary, b. July 25, 1892, San Francisco, CA; d. Aug 25, 1982, Magnolia,
AR.
m. Irma Gertrude Baillie, May 18, 1918, Ft Sill, Lawton, OK; b. Oct 24, 1894, San
Francisco, CA; d. July 1984, Magnolia, AR.
f. William Thomas Cary, b. July 6, 1862, MA; d. July 1, 1933, CA
m. Nellie May Dillon, b. Jan 15, 1867, CA; d. Nov 14, 1951, Marin Co., CA.
f. Unknown Cary, b. Massachusetts
m. Phebe S. Jones, b. Chelsea, MA.
If any of these names or history is familiar to anyone, please email me. We would be
most grateful for any leads.
Linda Cary
