Try the following URL for British military records. Sounds like your
ancestors could hae been in the military. Worth a look . I found my great
grandfather's records and the birth information of all of his 11
children, who
were born in India .. He was in the 43rd Lightfoot, Staffordshire
Regiment
and spent 16 years in India, during the same time period as your ancestor
..
