Lynn Carew is mentioned in his father's will dated 11 April 1806 from whom he received
a 1/6th portion of 1000 pounds.
Lynn Carew married (ML 1830) Alicia Jane, daughter of Hugh Rothwell of Brownstone, Co.
Meath. She was born about 1811. She died 27 July 1856 and was buried at St. Jerome,
Harold's Cross, Dublin. Lynn Carew was also buried at St. Jerome.
The will of Lynn Carew of 97 Lower Mount Street, Dublin, who died 7 November 1873, is in
the National Archive (NA 1205/14ii) but is very difficult to read. The will mentions his
daughters Bessie Christina, Belinda Sarah, and Jane who were entitled under the will of
their Aunt Belinda Rothwell to sums . . .
In a codicil dated 29 October 1873, Lynn Carew named his son Richard Hugh Carew and
Richard Reginald Carew of Woodinstown, Co. Tipperary as trustees.
His last will and testament with one codicil was proved on 29 December 1873 by Bessie
Christina Carew, spinster.
Woodinstown is a townland in Knockgraffon parish, Co. Tipperary, in the barony of
Middlethird, province of Munster, four miles south of Cashel on the road to Cahir. Now
surrounded by private property, it is very difficult to find. That said, I have been
there and I do have photographs of the ruins. Send your e-mail address to me at
magnesst(a)mindspring.com and I will send you some .jpg files for you records.
