Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
We now have a group sharing for the Carews of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
- there are at least 7 Carew families that originate from here for North
America - all from Ireland originally. Hope that the Newfoundland Carews
will form a group like the Peterborough Carews and keep us informed about
exact connected families. At some time in the future we may connect.
Info on the original Carew families continues to grow.

Sorry took so long to reply. Im not a member of ancestry.com and for the last year & a half life's been a little crazy in addition to overwhelming. And because of this, I have been keeping up on my family's genealogy. My Mother's a Carew from Newark, NJ - Father's Charles A Carew & Mother's Mary L. Phillips Carew also from Newark, NJ. I posted a note to your Carew's of Orange NJ today with alittle more detail on my side. From review more of your postings, it appears we're not related at all. I will ask both my parents if they remember anything about the Carews from South Orange. My father's James Francis Caffrey, III from Thomas Street, Newark, NJ and later lived in Irvington, NJ. He's a retired funeral director. My parents say during the 20's-60's & in the areas of Newark to the Oranges to Maplewood/Irvington and as far south as Avon, NJ & even into NYC it was a common occurence to seeother families with last names of Carew & even Caffrey; but no relationship to us. If !
I learn anything to help you, I'll be in touch. M.A. Caffrey @ cmyoas(a)yahoo.com

My mom's a Carew. She does remember Carew's from one of the Orange's, NJ when she was growing up; but said she was pretty sure they're not related to her family. Can I have some more info to work on - maybe my mom would remember some of your family. My grandparent's (Carew/Phillips) are from Newark, NJ - both born about 1880-1900. I know my Great-Grandfather, William J. Carew, Jr was either born in Newark, NJ or in New York: NYC, Brooklyn, Bronx, near Westchester, or maybe Long Island. Not sure.
Look forward to hearing from you & your connection. Thanks,
MA Caffrey, NJ @ cmyoas(a)yahoo.com

foundry superintendent/married katherine c connolly. wm j carew sr had a brother michael; their parents unknown to us a/o yet. still looking/trying to connect the dots...
my 2nd cousin-wm. j carew, III has a chart & it's all we have so far; other than michael: (wm. sr.'s brother) had at least 1 son - joseph carew (wall st. stock broker) who had 2 kids
names: howard & muriel.
Without talking to Bill 3rd or more info from you, I'm not sure where your connection is or what (if any) relationship there is. My mother thinks there're other William's & knows there're other Michael Carew's not related to us. As for the Irish roots,
we're not sure where-we think from Cty Cork/still looking.
I'm interested in your "Carew" background even if there's no
family connection. Please let me hear from you soon @:
