Alice:
Thanks for the info. This is a new mailing list that I just recently started. I found
that there are actually more CARELOCKs in the Social Security Death Index than there are
CEARLOCKs. To the best of my knowledge we do not presently have any CARELOCK descendants
who are subscribed to either the CARLOCK or the CEARLOCK mailing lists. It appears that
at least one line of CARELOCKs may be descended from William CARLOCK (s/o Joseph Taylor,
Joseph, Lemuel, Hanchrist, David) who is listed on page 438 of the book "History of
the Carlock Family". William's first cousin, once removed, George Washington
CARLOCK (s/o John, Lemuel, Hanchrist, David), also listed on page 438, was the ancestor of
the CEARLOCK line that went to Johnson Co., TX. Also notice on page 438 that George's
brother William (s/o John, Lemuel, Hanchrist, David) settled in Ramsey, Fayette Co., IL,
which is also where the second line of CEARLOCKs settled, those who are descended from
George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, !
b. ca. 1779, NC, who married Rachel LANDERS. Both Georges, as well as the William who
went to Fayette Co., IL, lived in Warren Co., KY, at one time. We are still searching for
information on the ancestry of the George who was born in 1779.
This is all one big tangled puzzle, and every piece of the puzzle that we can put together
makes it that much easier to fit the other pieces together.
I also found one interesting note on page 418 of the book "History of the Carlock
Family". It says that Johann Christian's son Theobald (Theodore) was "found
with his supposed Uncle David Carlock in Va., in 1749; no other records on him after this
date".
