genealogical purposes only. Repeated violations can result in being removed from the
subscriber list.
Viruses cannot be passed by way of Rootsweb mailing lists for a variety of reasons,
including the fact that the messages do not go directly from the sender to the receivers,
as well as the fact that Rootsweb lists do not support attachments.
Your best defense against viruses is to install good antivirus software on your computer
which includes periodic on-line virus definition updates. If you stay on-line for long
periods of time such as I do, you might want to choose antivirus software which also
includes a firewall. It is also recommended to never open any e-mail with a generic
subject line, even from someone you know; to not open any questionable attachments; and to
never open any attachments which end in ".exe". Use your delete button instead.
Many virus warnings even turn out to actually be hoaxes. Sites such as the following are
