Thank you for your reply.
See the May 21, 2007, reply to my query from RETREVA(a)aol.com, located at the following
site, in which she says the title of the book compiled by Mrs. Smith (Mary Lou) MEDLIN is
"History of the Carelocks":

Like you, I have a photocopy of the contents of the book with many hard-to-decipher
handwritten notes. I apparently have a copy of a copy. My guess is that the person who
originally made the photocopies may not have copied the cover.
I am in the process of comparing the material in the book with what I already have and
inputting new information into my database as appropriate. I am finding many errors, but
on the introductory page the author wrote, "I realize that this is an incomplete
record. There are many honest errors and many names omitted. I have written many
letters, made numerous calls and inquiries which were ignored or neglected. So I have put
together the information that I have been able to get to date."
The book does contain a lot of information which I did not already have. It has also
allowed me to put together several "puzzle pieces" which I had gathered, but not
previously been able to place in with the overall family tree.
I would like to put together a list of libraries containing copies of this book, as well
as sources for possibly purchasing copies of this book, much like the list which I have
compiled for the book "History of the Carlock Family," by Marion Pomeroy
CARLOCK, 1929, located at the following site:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/carlock/messages/472.html
For instance, I see that a copy of "History of the Carelocks," by Mary Louise
MEDLIN, is available at the Union County, NC, Public Library, 316 East Windsor Street;
Monroe, NC 28112; USA; telephone (704) 283-8184; Call Number R 929.2 MEDLlocked file.
Please let me know if anyone is aware of any other sources for viewing or purchasing
copies of this book.
