I finally finished entering the CARELOCK data that Jean CARELOCK recently sent me into my
database and have updated the report on my home page titled "Descendants of Hans
GERLACH". The URL for that report is:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/i/l/Susan-E-Tilleman/GENE16-...
It appears that, with the exception of some of my CEARLOCK (pronounced like
"CARELOCK") ancestors who occasionally used the spelling "CARELOCK",
most, if not all CARELOCKs who do not have an adoption somewhere in their line, can trace
their ancestry back to the following individuals:
Samuel A. CARELOCK (s/o Samuel A. CARLOCK/CARELOCK, George CARLOCK, Frederick Cornelius
CARLOCK, David GERLACH/CARLOCK, Hans GERLACH)
b. 1795, Mecklenburg Co., NC
m. Hester BROOKS
d. Nov. 14, 1873, Smith Co., TX
Hester BROOKS
b. ca. 1795, NC
d. May 5, 1849, Anson Co., NC
bd. Barrett Cemetery, Anson Co., NC
Many of Samuel and Hester's descendants still live in or near North Carolina. Another
cluster, descended from Samuel and Hester's great-grandson Myers Bright CARELOCK (s/o
William A., William A., Samuel) lives in or near El Dorado, Union Co., Arkansas.
I would welcome any additions or corrections to the above-mentioned report.
